Southern Acres Christian Church first met in Southern Elementary School in June 1972. With support from Southland Christian Church, the new church hired a young man and his family from northern Kentucky to become its first minister. Wally Rendel then served faithfully as the minister of Southern Acres for the next 34 years.
The new church grew quickly and on December 3, 1972, the first phase of a master plan began with construction of a new church building that included a sanctuary, offices and classroom facilities.
The church continued to grow and on June 3, 1979, SACC broke ground on a new, two-story education facility. This new facility fostered the growth of small groups, Bible classes and children's programs - bringing many new families to the church.
On April 20, 1986, the next phase of the plan began with construction of a 1,100 seat sanctuary. The master plan was completed in 1997 with the addition of a Family Life Center gymnasium. In all, Southern Acres is blessed with a 50,000-square-foot facility, five acres of land for ministry and an average worship attendance of 1,000.

Today, there is a new face of leadership at SACC. Following Wally's retirement on June 4, 2006, the church called Cameron McDonald as its new senior minister. A Kentucky native, Cameron is leading the church in a new era of ministry.
