Door Greeters
Position Description
Arrive 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. – 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Wear SMILEY STICKER and name badge lanyard
Stand at door and hold door open as guests arrive (weather permitting)
Greet people with a smile, warm handshake, and say “Welcome to Southern Acres”
Stay focused; do not allow yourself to be distracted (i.e., chat with friends)
Direct all questions from guests to Welcome Center
After service starts or is in FULL SWING, begin directing guests to use the back left/right pews unless they are meeting someone on the floor level so as not to disrupt the flow of the worship service
Be ready and willing to hand guests a bulletin if need arises
Stay at post until 10-15 minutes into service or until flow stops.
Bulletin Greeters
Position Description
Arrive 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. – 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Wear SMILEY STICKER and name badge lanyard
Stand at worship center doors and pass out worship bulletins to guests as they enter the worship center
Greet people with a smile and say “Welcome to Southern Acres”
Stay focused; do not allow yourself to be distracted (i.e., chat with friends)
Direct all questions from guests to Welcome Center
After service starts or is in FULL SWING, begin directing guests to use the back left/right pews unless they are meeting someone on the floor level so as not to disrupt the flow of the worship service
Close worship center doors after service begins to cut down on noise.
Stay at post until 10-15 minutes into service or until flow stops.
Head Usher/Greeter
Position Description
Head usher arrives 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. – 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Check-in with Leader to receive any special assignments for service
Wear SMILEY STICKER and name badge lanyard
Do not huddle near Welcome Center or Worship Center breezeway doors, rather disperse evenly throughout Welcome Center and Worship Center to make yourself available to open/close doors or to escort guests to available seating; readily anticipate any special needs or handicap guests; help guests locate a seat if necessary
Once the service begins the head usher needs to remain in the breezeway to control traffic of opening or closing doors
Only allow people to be seated during singing; do not allow people to be seated during prayer time, quiet times, or special music
Other ushers be available to help guests and worshippers find open seats and escort them
Stand in the back or be seated in chairs to await offering/communion
Direct ‘latecomers’ to left/right worship center entrances to refrain from interrupting flow of service; remove ‘reserved seating signs’ and thank them for coming.
At the end of the worship service, ushers/greeters can prop open Worship Center breezeway doors and Entrance Doors as people leave and say “Thanks for coming to Southern Acres”
Take worship attendance and tally total – record on attendance sheet at Welcome Center
Hostesses
Position Description
Arrive 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. – 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Wear SMILEY STICKER ☺ and name badge lanyard
Smile, greet people warmly and say “Welcome to Southern Acres”
Stand near Welcome Center and anticipate first time guests who need direction and/or need a personal tour to/from education wings in the building.
Familiarize yourself with all the areas, check-in procedures, and map of the building
Remain focused on guests and provide assistance to the welcome center
Smile; greet people warmly; use the phrase “Welcome to Southern Acres” when introducing yourself as you escort a guest
When escorting, give your first name and get to know their first name during introductions by using their name at least 3 times as you direct them through the building pointing out areas of interest (Family Life Center, Nursery, etc.)
Hand guests a first time guest packet as you direct them throughout the building
Escort the guest back to the worship center and do not abandon or leave them unless they give you the clearance
Stay 10-15 minutes after start of the service
Welcome Center
Position Description
Know the content of the bulletin, class schedules, guest packets; know the location of all departments (infants/toddlers; children; teens; adults; emergency; hearing impaired devices?, lost & found, etc.)
Wear SMILEY STICKER ☺ and name badge lanyard
Arrive 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. – 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Familiarize yourself with Special Upcoming Events
Check to make sure class schedules; floor plans; guest brochures are out on the kiosk
Smile; greet people warmly and say “Welcome to Southern Acres”
Stay focused on guests; answer questions; provide directions
If a 1st time guest needs directions, ask a Hostess to escort our guests personally to another part of building as needed
If you’re asked a question you cannot answer, ask a Staff Member, or get a name and number of guest and promise to get back to them if they will stop by the welcome center after the service (use your judgement)
Answer phone and handle calls during hours of Worship
Stay 15 minutes after start of service
Parking Ministry
Position Description
Arrive 30 minutes early for group prayer (1st hr. 9:00 a.m.; 2nd hr. – 10:30 a.m.)
Wear parking vest and/or weather gear
Wear SMILEY STICKER and name badge lanyard
Check parking lot for trash/clutter
Smile; greet people warmly and say “Welcome to Southern Acres”
Provide direction and help with traffic flow
Utilize 2-way radios to coordinate parking solutions with Valet Ministry
Look for opportunistic ways to serve (assist special needs; carry heavy bags; escort senior adults; umbrellas; etc.)
Hand 1st time guests a ‘colored packet’
Place ‘Treat Cards’ on windshield after 1st time guests have entered the building
Use cones, flashlights, and personnel to aid with shuttles and traffic
Overseer
Position Description
Know overall structure and the lay of the land - schedules; building floor plan; rooms
Arrive 45 minutes early to pray with Volunteers; set welcome center
Wear SMILEY STICKER and name badge lanyard
Assist anyone (servers) in need; fill absences
Help with spontaneous recruiting
Tend to special needs/circumstances of guests
Staff the Welcome Center during service hour
